This will be different than your previous papers, by “different” I mean easier (I hope).
750 words (3 pages), no sources required but accepted, no mandated peer review but you should still do that on your own.
We will be writing about COVID-19 from one of two perspectives:
1) an objective argument or analysis of something COVID-related. These are what we’ve been reading over the past two weeks. For instance, many of you have chosen to analyse essays on the remote learning, remote working, voting in a pandemic (this is gonna get weird, I’ll warn you), the culture of watching classic sports from 1988 on ESPN, the decline of theaters, the rise of delivery in all economic aspects (where I live veterinarians are coming to us), the impact on high school life. You can start with an existing essay you find interesting and expand, or start from scratch with something that you are uniquely passionate about.
2) A subjective reflection about your first and hopefully last time in a pandemic/quarantine. What have you learned about yourself, what do you miss, what skills have you practiced, have you changed at all? Think of what would be cool to share with your children twenty years from now.
3) A combination of the two (obj./subj.). I wrote two smaller things to give you an example:
Sunday 4/26: Paper Ideas. Give me first two paragraphs and some notes indicating where it’s going.
Friday 5/1: Rough Draft. I’ll give you feedback.
